Aussie Roads are a Joke!
For those unfamiliar, the Chain of Responsibility (CoR) legislation seeks to provide a wholistic approach to corporate accountability. The basic question it asks is "who ultimately is responsible when something goes wrong?" The answer more often than not includes many different cogs that operate a wider wheel.
One of these cogs within the transport industry (almost screamingly obviously) is the Australian road, some argue. The bad state of some Australian roads is less of an eye-saw and more of a contributor to various costs and damages accrued when a Carrier does their job. This is where the CoR comes in.
To make the state of our roads a part of the CoR is a big deal and one that seems to be easier said than done, but it's an interesting notion nonetheless.
