Heavy Vehicle Fatalities Down
As recorded in the Bureau of Infrastructure, Transport and Regional Economics latest quarterly bulletin release, fatality rates are down across the board for heavy vehicles in the 2020 financial year. Comparatively, 28 less deaths have been recorded involving heavy rigid trucks, whilst 8 less deaths were recorded for articulated trucks and buses respectively.
“Over the past financial year there were 157 fatalities recorded, down 17.8 per cent on last financial year,” - Sal Petroccitto, NHVR CEO.
“This includes a 30.4 per cent reduction in fatalities involving heavy rigid vehicles and a 7.8 per cent reduction in fatalities involving articulated vehicles."
